1. The Reason for Travel

2. Select a visa type

There are a lot of visa types that are available for individuals that want to move to the UK. You must select one of these visa types. Some of these visa types are;

  • Business Visa

This type of visa is available for individuals that want to come and invest in a business or attend business-related meetings in the UK. For those that want to invest or start up a business, they need to have at least £100,000 for their investments or start-ups.

  • Study Visa

This type of visa is available for students that want to come to the UK and get an education, no matter their level. For you to be eligible for this visa, you must have a valid acceptance letter from the institution you want to study at and also have proof of financial independence (sponsors or scholarships)

  • Visit Visa

You can come to the UK for the main purpose of paying a visit to your family, a ceremony(e.g. marriage), a medical checkup,tourism purposes etc.

  • Asylum or Human Rights Visa

This visa is available for individuals seeking asylum, humanitarian protection, or reunion of refugees from their home country due to war or insecurities happening in their country

  • Work Visa

If you gain employment in the UK or are planning to work in the UK either temporarily or permanently, the work visa is for you.

  • Family Visa

This visa type is for family members of UK citizens or permanently resident parents or children (close family relatives). It is also available to individuals that are spouses of UK citizens or permanent residents.

  • Youth Mobility Visa

This type of visa is for individuals from specific countries . The youth mobility visa lasts for just 2 years. These are some of the criteria that make you eligible for this visa:

  1. You must have at least £2,000 in savings 
  2. You must be a citizen of one of the following countries: Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, or New Zealand 
  3. be between the ages of 18 and 30.
  4. You have £250 to pay the application fee.

3. Apply for a Visa

The application process depends on the visa type that you have chosen. You’ll need to go to the official UK immigration website, choose your visa type, and fill in all the laid down processes ( ensure you don’t skip any).

4. Gather Documents and Pay Fees

During the application process, you will need to tender some documents for verification and approval. You will also need to pay some fees, such as the application fee, visa fee, etc.

5. Interview

Most, but not all, visa options will require you to come for an interview before you can get the visa. Ensure you are there on time with all the necessary documents and a positive spirit.
