Canada has been in great need of nurses even before the pandemic. The government is willing to spend over 500 million dollars to help foreign nurses apply, get employment, and even get permanent residency. Here are some of the best ways to immigrate to Canada as a nurse.

The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)

To qualify through this pathway, nurses must have passed the English or French Literacy test (CLB) with at least 7 points, must also have worked as a nurse in their host country for at least one year continuously in a ten-year period, and have at least 70 points on their comprehensive ranking system (CRS). Students with the highest CRS scores get invited to apply for permanent residency

Express Entry

This is an online platform that is processed by the Canadian government. Hopeful Canadian immigrants submit their applications and are graded based on CRS standards. They are awarded points based on their skill, age, work experience, education, etc. Nurses must have at least 1 year of working experience. Nurses must have passed either an English or French literacy test (CLB)

Canadian Express Class (CEC)

Here, candidates must have worked at least 1 year within a 3 year period. This work experience must have been completed in Canada. A candidate must have passed the Language Literacy test (CLB) with at least 7 points and does not need a job offer to apply for this program.

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

Here, provinces will organize multiple programs to help nurses immigrate to Canada. Although the federal government has the final say on who can immigrate to Canada, provinces can nominate their candidates. There are a lot of PNPs currently that you can check online and apply for.

Note: None of these programs are easy, they need months of diligence and study to pass, so if you are interested in immigrating to Canada as a nurse, choose a program that best suits you and work towards providing all the necessary documents and qualifications.

Good luck!
