Getting an education in a foreign country is a great option for students today.

Here are some easy steps to help you study in Canada.

1) SELECT A PROGRAM

This is the first step, and it determines the rest.you choose a program that you are passionate about or that helps you in your career path.

2) APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIP

3) PREPARE YOUR FINANCES

Studying in Canada can cost between $10,000- $40,000(less if given a scholarship) per year, depending on where you are studying, and how long you are studying.

4) FIND A SCHOOL

Choose a school that is within your budget and offers the course you want to study. Most importantly, ensure that it is a DLI (Designated Learning Institution) because if you want to study in Canada for more than 6 months, you will need a Canadian study permit, which only a DLI can provide.

If you also want to work in Canada after graduation, ensure that the program/school you are choosing has a PGWP ( Post Graduate Work Permit).

5) CHECK YOUR ELIGIBILITY FOR THE PROGRAM

Every school has a general entrance requirement and a program-specific entrance requirement. Ensure you meet all the requirements for both.

6) SUBMIT A SCHOOL APPLICATION

School applications can be submitted either online or on paper.

There are a few documents that are required by most schools when submitting a school application.

Passport Copy

Application Fee

Letter of Intent

If you submit these and the admissions office reviews them and informs you that you have been given a spot, then you will be given an LOO (Letter of Offer).

7) PROCESS LOO:

A LOO simply states that you have been given a conditional application in which you need to send some documents to convert it to a LOA (Letter of Acceptance).

These documents are:

Returning and signing your LOO

Transmitting your official transcript

Paying your security deposit

7) APPLY FOR A STUDY PERMIT AND STUDENT VISA

When applying for a study permit and student visa, all these steps have to be followed:

Fill in application forms.

Uploading necessary documents (e.g., LOA)

Writing a letter of intent

Pay application fees

After you have submitted your study permit, you will have to wait for a decision from CIC (Citizen and Immigration Canada).

If your application is approved, Congratulation

If it is rejected, consider reapplying or seeking legal help from RCIC (Registered Canadian Immigration Consultant).
